Fun and Fitness in Key West Florida
Key West
Key West has a long tradition of a laid-back, live-and-let-live attitude; the year-round temperate climate lends itself to relaxation.
It's telling that both Tennessee Williams and Ernest Hemingway made home here; the town is very accepting of all colours and persuasions. Whether it's the beach, the excellent snorkelling on the reef teeming with marine life, a leisurely walk down the sleepy tree-lined streets and quaint houses, or partying all night in the bars along Duvall Street there's something for everyone there.
Key West prides itself on its diversity and tolerance. Fishermen, artists, Cubans, drag queens, gay and straight co-exist with total ease. The entire old town is navigable on foot, and a rental bike makes getting around even easier.
The tree-lined streets are safe day and night, and an evening stroll in after dinner is one of the great pleasures of the town. Life moves several degrees slower in the sub-tropic town...and that's how they like it. Three days there will feel like a week spent at a more hectic vacation spot.
